A serial entrepreneur, David was Chief Social Scientist at Jive Software (JIVE) as Chief Scientist, part of the team that led Jive through a successful IPO in 2011. He joined Jive after it purchased his company, Proximal Labs, a machine learning startup that personalized information in enterprise social networks. Prior to Proximal, David was co-founder and CTO at Social Kinetics, a behavioral health spin-out from SRI International sold to RedBrick Health in 2010. Previously he was a member of SRI’s Artificial Intelligence Center, serving as Product Manager for the largest machine learning project in the U.S. Government’s history, DARPA’s PAL program, and worked extensively with national security customers post-9/11. He is an active early stage investor and an advisor to GE Ventures, Accenture Technology Labs, the World Economic Forum, and the InHealth Program at Johns Hopkins University. David’s background is in economics with a focus on social network theory. He taught at Stanford University, and holds a BA from Principia College, and a Masters and PhD in economic history from Johns Hopkins University.
