Dr. Sam Borgeson is an expert in the area of building load data analytics and data-enabled building energy efficiency. Sam spent a decade in start-up and enterprise software consulting, including co-founding Carbon Five, an agile software consulting firm in San Francisco with a 17+ year history of successful projects, prior to pursuing graduate studies at UC Berkeley in Building Science (MS) and Energy and Resources (PhD). He wrote his dissertation on beneficial applications of meter data analytics and is the lead architect and developer of VISDOM, an open-source meter data analytics platform developed with ARPA-e funding at Stanford University. Through Convergence Data Analytics, he consults on meter data analytics projects for organizations as diverse as the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), Lawrence Berkeley National Labs (LBNL), the Stanford Sustainable Systems Lab, and Vermont Energy Investment Corporation (VEIC).
